View more information »Who wants to know how far you can stretch $50 at TJ Maxx, watch my video and read below to find out…. I love a good bargain just like the next person, but when it comes to fitness accessories, workout gear and meal prep items my go to places are Amazon, TJ Maxx, Home Goods and Marshalls. I find the absolute best items there to look cute during workouts, successfully to do my weekly meal prep and I always find some great gems for my home and beauty in there too. It’s one of those “I just went in for one thing” places that soon enough becomes a cart full of amazing finds. I like to think of it as a fancy flea market; there is always something new in there and the discovery part of the store experience always makes it really fun and exciting.
There are so many times I go in and find brands that are double the price in other stores and I feel like I’ve found a diamond in the rough. So I ventured out to my local TJ Maxx which is in Lyndhurst, New Jersey and they always reload the store with new items each week. The staff is always really attentive and friendly and they have a wide assortment of beauty, shoes, clothing, active wear and stuff for home decor. I received a $50 gift card in the mail from TJ Maxx to see what I would pick up on a shopping trip so this post is a quick walk through of what I decided to purchase with my gift card and share with all of you. It’s also a cool way to show what you can get for $50 from their stores because a little really does go a long way. Let’s just go right ahead and jump on in and go through my two bags of goodies I picked up. Usually when I go to TJ Maxx I have something in mind that I am looking for, but other times I am just going in to browse and see what they have.
Very rarely do I ever walk out empty handed – there is always something in there I wind up wanting to try out. This trip was no different. I knew I needed 1 thing (a new set of meal prep containers), but I never go right to the section I am looking for something in. I start in the beauty section and go aisle by aisle, then the handbags, shoes, cookware, active wear and sometimes the home decor section. It takes me a good 45 minutes to get in and out of the store because it’s just a visual free for all and everything grabs my attention. I like to pick things up, touch them, take photos – I tend go alone because my husband would hate how long it takes me to get done in this store. Let’s talk about snacks! I am still following a ketogenic diet so high fat foods like nuts and oils are a big part of my diet. For healthy snacking on the run I love almonds, cashews, brazil nuts and pistachios. I love this Energy Mix by Orchard Valley Harvest which has protein and good healthy fats with some sea salt.
I keep bags like this in my purse or car for a quick in between meal refuel. I think this bag was $5.99 which is great for a mixed nuts snack. They always have snacks like this near the cash register and now they also sell them in the active wear section too. I love me a cool new sports bra and they always have a great variety of fashionable ones on the cheap! I don’t think I’ve ever paid more than $15 for a sports bra and I have gotten some great ones from TJ Maxx. This one I couldn’t pass up – the purple and the sexy slit style back was an eye catcher. I absolutely loved how this fit and it had some light padding as well for more support and comfort. This was $12.99 and a great find! I love to also check out the shorts and leggings area which always has great variety of colors and fun funky styles. Most are between $12.99-$19.99 and include top brands like Under Armour, Nike and adidas. I picked up a great high waisted pair of 90 Degrees dark blue/navy tights which fit so well and were $16.99.
I feel like I am always collecting more and more leggings and shorts from this store but I really like having a variety of styles and colors to choose from for my workouts. I didn’t pick up a lunch tote on this particular visit but I have bought a lunch bag from this store before. They have a good assortment of cute lunch bags for you to take your meal prepped lunch and snacks with you to work or school. They are really versatile and come in some cute patterns to replace those brown bag lunches you dreaded as a child. I picked up these B.Block lunch containers for smaller lunches. These were I believe $5.99 for 3 and are a great size for a cup of veggies and some lean meat like grilled chicken. I use them to prep my lunches and the snap closures keep them tightly sealed to prevent spills. They have a huge variety of tupperware and meal prep containers to choose from. I tend to go through them so quickly and throw them out if they break, crack or just get pretty gross from over use so it’s nice to go in and grab some new ones.
I also like that they have glass and plastic and snack size to really large ones as well. I was in major need of a new skillet for my morning egg omelettes which we have been having every single day – so I picked up a natural ceramic pan for under $20. It is perfect for making daily breakfasts and it really works great to flip omelettes which I don’t do such a great job of. I love that they carry a wide variety of sizes and this was just what I needed so finding one was pretty easy. I am a sucker for trying out new brands and products in the beauty section, this visit was no exception. I’ve been doing a lot of reading about women shaving their face (I know, crazy right) and also their upper lip hair. Now I don’t have dark hair on my face at all, but I do have some almost clear peach fuzz that I considered shaving. I have read that many women shave their face to exfoliate as well and that it makes your makeup look flawless because there is no hair that gets stuck to the foundation or product.
I read that these eyebrow razors are great for women to use so I picked these up for $3.99 and looking to test out the theory to see how it works. And ladies, no the hair will NOT grow back thicker – that is just an old wives tale. Lastly I was in need of some new body wash. If you work out daily you find yourself bathing a lot so I run out fast and when I saw that TJ Maxx had the Honest Company shampoo and body wash I wanted to try it out. This bottle does both; skin and hair cleansing. It was $6.99 and I figure I would give it a try. I like their products and it was quickly tossed in my cart. Overall I got a lot of stuff for $50, even though I went a few dollars over with my purchase but not by much. I shared an image of me in my new workout outfit on Instagram which I wore the same day I went shopping – I get excited when it comes to new workout gear that I just can’t wait to hit the gym! How many of you visit a TJ Maxx or Marshalls on the regular? What amazing finds have you bought?
